Chapter 4 The Clues
“Did any of you open a letter that came in the mail today?” Mr. Decos, Noah’s Dad, asked. “No sir.” I said. “Come on dad! We didn’t open any letters!” Noah says. Just then, I noticed a note written “Project 57 test 1 is complete.” I glance around for more notes. I spot something that looks familiar. It was the tablets Dr. Kuwas had when Noah got sick. I also see a picture of the factory that produces our town's profit. ”Excuse me.” Natasha says to Mr. Decos, “I need to go home to study.” “Fine.” Mr. Decos replies angrily. Natasha rushes out the door. “I also need to go home.” I say, “Natasha and I are doing a ‘group project’.” Mr. Decos nods at me and I quickly rush out.
“Natasha!” I call out loud. I see her walking down the cold street to her home. “Natasha!” I call out again. She turns around and she says “What?”
“Did you see all those notes hanging around Mr. Decos’s bulletin board?” I ask.
“Yes.” Natasha replies.
“On one note it said ‘Project 57 test 1 complete’. Next to that note there was a bottle of tablets. Those tablets were the ones Dr. Kuwas was holding. Last, there was a picture of the factory. I think Mr. Decos is hiding something.” “I noticed them also, call me so we can talk about this, it’s getting chilly here! See ya later.” Natasha says with her hands in her pocket. “Bye!” I say to her.
Natasha just left towards her home. Now I’m alone. My brain floods up with thoughts, is the town’s factory a set up?Is Noah’s dad really not what we think he is? Is this town really not peaceful? Stop I say to myself, I’m just gonna ask my dad what’s going on everything will be fine, maybe.
Just then, I reached home. I walk to my Dad’s office to tell him about what I think about Mr. Decos. I open the door to my Dad’s office. I look around to see that Dad is not there. I spot a bottle of tablets. Those tablets looked like the one on Mr. Decos and Dr. Kuwas. I also noticed a note written the same thing as the one in Mr. Decos’s office. I quickly run to the phone and call Natasha. Natasha answers the call. “Hello?” Natasha says. “I need to tell you something,” I say, “I think our parents are hiding something from us. Tomorrow, at noon, come to my house.” I hang up the phone and grab my jacket. I rush out the door and head to Noah’s house. Noah is standing outside cleaning the driveway. “Noah! Glad you are outside! Come to my house at noon tomorrow. We need some planning to do.”
