Chapter 8: The Warning
Dreams aren’t the best welcome sign after a hard battle. It started like this: I slept. Then I got the weirdest dream ever. It felt real. Like I was there. I don’t know how, but I was just there. I fell from darkness and landed in a swamp. The man who owned Augrusiance was standing on a lilypad. Like, how? There were trees, ugly water, and what looked like another million metal dogs. Yay for us.
“Hello, Chris Flame,” The man turned and laughed. “Scared?”
“No, I … How? W-why am I here?” I stammered.
“Because of your -” The man got cut off by a massive giant who stomped on him.
“Dummy! Boss needs you while you are talking with a-a-a … a guy!” The giant scolded the man. I peeked far away to see the man squished. Sheesh. The giant turned to me and tilted his head.
“A kid. USELESS! JUST LIKE GRACE! Right, Grace? Grace?” The giant bellowed. Grace. She was here, but where can we find a swamp in San Francisco? There were millions. But this swamp smelled bad. So did the other swamps. Then I saw a shadow. Grace was here.
“Hello, Chris, and what do you need, Orgos, for the LAST TIME!” Grace stomped her feet.
“Uh, yeah! I need you to watch me kill THAT KID!” The giant Orgos pointed at me. They should stop screaming. The giant lifted his feet to stomp on me, but I tried to throw a fireball and use telekinesis to move the foot away. Tried. Well, that failed. The giant weighed a million tons and a single fireball couldn’t do anything to it. Then the scene changed. I was standing in a mansion filled with jewels. There was a statue of a girl with blue hair, a million diamonds at my foot, and a girl in front of me.
“Hello, Chris Flame,” The girl smiled. Why does everyone know my name?
“Uhm, I just had a bad dream about another person, so … ” I pointed out.
“Yes. With the man that just got stomped by Orgos.”
“How did you, uh, know?” I asked.
“Because I pulled you out of the dream,” she said matter of factly.
“Cool. So what do you have for me today?”
“... Can you tell me the warning now?”
“Right. There will be a death. Either you and your friends or another person and for your information, 41.8781° N, 87.6298° W. Good Luck.” Why do they always give coordinates?
Then the scene changed again. My friends and I were on the Golden Gate bridge fighting off a humongous monster. He had braided hair, (why would a monster do that?) black face, and a body made from metal. Or at least I think it was metal. Maybe an even stronger type of metal, because by the look of it, we were not damaging the monster. The monster picked up his ax, (don’t know where that came from) and sliced us in half. One slice, all of us dead. Then the scene changed to the part ten seconds ago, where we were not sliced in half. We all charged and went full out. Even with our power, we were useless. Then a huge blast of air came and the monster fell into the water. Dead. We all turned our heads to see -
“WAKE UP! WAKE UP!”
“Go easy on him, he had a long first watch.”
“Right, should we let him sleep more?”
“No! I mean, no,” I jumped up from the makeshift bed.
“Oh, my! You gave us a heart attack!” Jonah started sarcastically, breathing hard. I looked around. Everybody was awake.
“Sorry I am late,” I yawned.
“It’s fine, you should get a good sleep anyway,” Veronica forgave me. Veronica stared at me. “What?”
“By any chance, does anyone know the world map coordinates? Because I know where we are going today, folks! We will finish our quest today!”
